Participants in this webinar will be presented with the components of a Protection Plan and the process to follow for the development of a plan following guidelines provided by the National Fire Protection Association’s Code for Protection of Cultural Resource Properties. Grounded in a vulnerability assessment, the planning process covers fire safety, security, construction considerations, prevention, special events, and recovery strategies. At the completion of this webinar, participants will have the tools needed to begin developing is a significant step towards a resilient organization.
Instructor: Chris Soliz
Chris Soliz is a Fire and Disaster Preparedness Consultant. He has been a firefighter and emergency management professional for 29 years and works with performing arts and cultural heritage organizations to develop comprehensive fire safety and preparedness programs. He has worked with government, private, and non-profit organizations to develop emergency response plans, command large-scale emergencies, manage special events, and coordinate resource management. Chris holds a master’s degree in emergency services management and is credentialed as an Incident Commander by the Department of Homeland Security. In his desire to ensure quality, and to focus his technical skill on cultural heritage protection, he has completed specialized studies through Leiden University, and the Institute of Disaster Mitigation for Urban Cultural Heritage, at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan.
